CD ReviewsBreton music with a Jazz twist Moerne | Louisville, Colorado United States | 11/03/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "Didier Squiban is a Breton jazz pianist who was involved in a plethora of projects over the 90's; most notably (for me) the incredible "L'Heritage Des Celtes" project. Here, he extends that group's vision to add some jazz forms and influences; and includes some chorale pieces to round out the recording. The result is a remarkable set of compositions (the only drawback is that the recording is oddly "cold" and light on the bass end) . Highlights include the songs featuring the great Yann-Fanch Kemener, as well as vocals by the sea song master Manu Lann Huel, and the usual excellent guitar contributions of Dan Ar Braz. This is one of those recordings that you like upon first hearing it, but may not be enthralled. Be careful though as you find yourself unable to take it out of the CD player after the 6th or 7th listening."
