CD Reviews

Zig rules!!
S. L. Smith | Durham, NH United States | 12/19/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Buy this CD even if only for the two cuts "Ride That Rail" and "With My Eyes Closed". Who would have thought Zig's voice could actually be made to sound better, but an accordian, a mandolin, and Gregory Douglass's backing vocals do so on "Ride That Rail". Zig's songs are always kind and surprising, yet hubby Geoff Sather's contributions make this even more of a stand-out. Pardon me for being stuck on "Ride That Rail", but the way Zig's voice takes off and sails over the strings and drums is pure candy for the ears. She can really belt out the notes in her folksy understated way. Buy this, and her other CDs ("Sting of The Honeybee" and "These Are The Roots") and learn what all the buzz is about Diane Zeigler; she consistently provides the gift of organic, solid, gentle, original music for those of us who expect more from the current industry."
Amazing new CD by Diane Zeigler

"All of Diane's CD's are wonderful both lyrically and musically. "Paintbrush" however, is her finest work to date. The songs are her most personal and poignant. I really didn't think that I could like an album more than "These are the roots", but "Paintbrush" blows away my expectations of a Zig CD. "Ride That Rail" starts out the album with a great beat and leads into the amazing fiddle playing of Sarah Blair on "Indian Paintbrush". My personal favorite, "It grew in front of me" ends with a haunting solo by Nell Sather. As always, Diane's voice is captivating and addictive. As one fan said "I just can't get enough of Diane's music." BUY THIS CD FOR YOURSELF AND ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS! I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't love it."
