CD Reviews

Where's "SHOWTIME"?
Les Brown | Chicago | 01/31/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is really a 4 star album because it lacks 'THE' baddest record they ever charted, the JR Walker inspired "SHOWTIME" from 1968. To be honest, were it not for 'that' attention grabber, many people would'nt have payed much attention to the group until 1971."
Smooth 70's soul
Joe Lawrence | Mount Vernon, New York United States | 03/23/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

""Feel the need in me" is the type of song you hear once and feel like you have known it for years. I bought this CD for that track. The version from 1977 is a great disco classic that is not on any collection. The rest of the CD is smooth 70's soul and a great listen. Although I didn't know these songs prior to my purchase, they are virtually all catchy and I am glad I bought it."
70s soul
Carlos A. Marsh | pasadena, ca. | 03/19/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"i have held on to a 45 vinyl copy of this group's BABY LET ME TAKE YOU since it came out in 1972. its pure soul magic. i only remembered damon shawn's version of FEEL THE NEED(rhino can you hook us up?)so it was great to get two classic mixes of that song and even though i wasnt familiar with much else on this collection i was pleasantly surprised at the sheer scope of funk and soul of their songs. they join the o'jays, stylistics, staple singers, temptations, spinners, isley brothers, jackson 5, honeycone and the like as purveyors of 70s soul. a must have for those who like it like that!"
