CD Reviews

Solid Modern Euro-Metal
Joel Israel | Cedar City, UT United States | 10/06/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I had read some great reviews of this band, and I don't quite recall what nationality they are.....most of the Euro-metal these days comes from Sweden, but these guys may be Dutch or German perhaps...at any rate, I was surprised at how much I liked this album. I have not enjoyed the last couple of In Flames albums, for example, so I guess I had low expectations. It is a sort of hybrid of death metal combined with the now classic Gothenburg-style European metal style. Great riffs, epic compositions and excellent production, with the guitars sharp and up front in the mix, like a metal album should be....I especially like the Iron Maiden-esque sense of harmony and melodicism on this disc. There are also a few great clean-tone or acoustic guitar interludes as well which remind me of the old (good) Metallica...well worth checking out for the metal fan, although somewhat obscure. Definately recommended- I would like to hear the next release from this band. As a side note, the art on the album is also very interesting and cool."
If you like good European Metal...

"Then this is a worth while purchase. Great all-around record fusing elements of InFlames/Soilwork meets Opeth/Dark Tranquility. I also caught some veiled sense of the original Metroid game soundtrack interlaced within some of the melodies. I f you are like me, and most of your cd collection comes from Scandinavia, this is one band to have in your collection, the songs are well put together, the vocals are thick gutteral and hate-fuelled, yet mournful. The guitar sound is unique and textural. Worth the money. So pick it up dammit. Also look for Emission Phase, they're new one coming out this month. Chheers and keep the metal alive."
Excellent

"This is a great album that shows many improvements upon a solid foundation found in previous album Epic Defiance. Although the lead guitar work is better on their most recent album,Emission Phase, I enjoy this album more as a whole especially the instrumental track Lost Euphoria Part III."
