Synopsis

Album Description
On Alien Guitar: Modern Rock Guitar Vol. II, a new ground breaking release for 2001, guitarist Denis Taaffe combines regular guitar, blistering solos and guitar loops done on the fly to break new ground in modern rock guitar and in the process defines a unique multi layered guitar style. All tracks are one takes, done live-in-the-studio with no overdubs, and must be heard to be appreciated. The CD just features Taaffe and his rack of musical gear - plus the inspiration of the moment. As writer Pete Prown has stated, "All told, Alien Guitar: Modern Rock Guitar Vol. II contains the kind of kooky, maverick genius rarely heard on guitar albums these days. Here?s a guy who dares to be different, take chances, and risks making mistakes... it?s the sound of one guitarist with a cool idea and the ingenuity to effectively put it down in recorded form. " Instrumental Guitar (Electric/Rock), total running time, 70:22

CD Reviews

Fantastic!!!!!!

"Fantastic, Fantastic, Fantastic album!!!!! I've listened to many music artists in my 40+ years but Denis Taaffe has provided an excellent guitar style with songs that can be "powerful" (Courage-CD Track 11) and dynamic as well as soft and "relaxing" (Cold-CD Track 12). Denis is a realitively unknown talent outside of his home state of Indiana. It is only a matter of time before his style and music become well known across the music industry and change that. I live in the Phoenix,AZ area and I've already contacted Denis in attempt to get him to perform in the "Valley Of Sun". Phoenix would love his music. I've had several friends listen to "Alien Guitar" and Denis's first album "Abducted By Aliens." They are extremely impressed by his music and talent. Keep the music coming Denis!!!!!"
Revolutionary new style Defined by this new CD

"i was blown away when listening to the full range of guitarsounds on this CD. I mean I don't think I have ever heard guitar quite this way. What I thought were keyboard sounds ended up being guitar. In fact, I didn't even realize that it was done live and all one takes.I thought it would rock more, but instead it is an introspective album that is at the same time dark and atmospheric.I really think this is a new style of music created by one person.I can't think of another CD with this kind of guitar playing. On a few tracks he solo's and he has got to be the fastest guitarist I ever heard. But his solos are always part of the song. This style of his would work great in movie soundtracks.I am hooked. I want more of this kind of music, but can't think of another artist that has a similar sound. anyway, I am really impressed and especially liked Dilligence II, ESP and Song for Sinead. I do have to say that the CD is a litle long.If you like quality guitar, Get this CD and it may be breaking ground for a new style of music."

"What I mean is...Nightlights and Vision of the Night are my 2 favs. I really liked abduction but Alien G is 10 times better. ESP, Cold, etc. Very unique style. Im not juts reffering to his playing of all instruments alone, I mean the music itself. The 2 songs I initially mentioned are in my top 10 all time favorites of all songs. He is not very popular, but I hope he is popular enough to keep putting out these awesome CD's. His live CD is also very worthwhile. Great job Denis!!!"
