Sonic Journey to the Zenith of Aural Pleasure
Debby Abrahams | Rochester, NY United States | 06/17/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The four mixes on this disc remind me of a symphony--elaborate variations on the main theme. Start with a straightforward Delerium track--great beat, can dance to it, haunting vocals, imaginative mix. Next, Satoshi Tomile Remix sets up a slowly intensifying and massive groove, which peaks just before a poignant piano cadenza. The Svenson & Gielen Remix is another lively mix with plenty of industrial sound, and the syncopated start to the Amniotic Insomniac Mix By Adrian Schubert demonstrates the highly electrified vocal pervasive throughout the track. It took me three hearings to reach a true appreciation for the complexity and brilliance of this accomplishment. (My car stereo just can't do it justice.) The best music I can find comes frum Leeb, Fulber, and their incredibly talented crew."
This is Delerium, After all...

"While I'm usually left feeling unimpressed with most remixes, Leeb and Fulber always seem to find the right DJs to spin their material. By the hands of grace, Satoshi Tomiie, Svenson & Gielen and Adrian Schubert have managed to reinvent this song in their each unique way, and without taking away from the magic of the original (and don't worry, none of the beats are repetitious and they're all extremely different so you won't get bored hearing the 'same' track four times in a row). Featuring the heavenly voice of Jael from the group Lunik, "Afterall" is the first single off of Delerium's 2003 album, 'Chimera', and since I'm such a huge fanatic I just have to buy everything they release and seldom am I disappointed! Back in September of last year I was fortunate enough to see Delerium with special guests Conjure One live in Los Angeles and their incredible set had more of a dance vibe than found on their records, making me feel like I was at a rave or something, and so I personally enjoy listening to these remixes for they bring back fond memories for me."
