Album Description

Carlos Prieto and Edison Quintana both hail from Mexico and have worked together successfully for nearly two decades, premiering countless works by Spanish & Latin American composers, and making numerous acclaimed records. Prieto, a longtime friend of Igor Stravinsky and colleague of Dmitri Shostakovich, has played with orchestras all over the world, and has premiered over 70 compositions, most of them written for him. Cellist Juan Hermida was the First Prize winner in the 1998 Carlos Prieto Cello Competition. Violinist Juan Luis Prieto Reina is first violin in the Prieto String Quartet. Not only is this varied recital grateful to the brain and ear, it has the bonus of Urtext?s fabulously elegant packaging!
