Fresh and Smooth Feeling Gospel

"Well, Deitrick is back, which surprised me because I didn't know he was coming out with a new album this year. Not only did he come back with a new album, but came back with a new sound with Tim & Bob helping to produce this fresh and smooth feeling gospel album.

He's definitely not a man that's afraid to come out with a new sound for gospel music, like he said in his song "Count Your Blessings", when he said "trying to bring a new sound to the Gospel game had people hating on him in JESUS name." But he didn't give up and came a long way. I remember when I first heard of him from his album Chain Breaker and that album was definitely something different from what was out at that time. I liked all of his albums that I was aware of and even the Voices of Unity albums. When he got to the album Crossroads it kind of seem liked he had hit his peak with that particular sound that he became associated with. So I'm glad he got a new production team for this album.

If you been listening to his albums, you can tell he been through a lot, but like he said "I don't have to fret cause I know Lord you're with me through it all." Then in his ad-libs near the end of the song, he says "Lord, have mercy JESUS...There's so much going on right now." Which is Who we need to call on when we're going though a lot and believe that He's faithful to know He's with us through it all. He sung those quotes in his song "Through It All" which is a very nice song with Damita Haddon singing background.

My personal favorite song is "Heavenly Father" which is surrendering to God and praying to God to draw him nearer to Him and lighting his pathway as he tries to seek His face every day. It's my favorite because it's a great song of prayer with humility and love to sing to God to draw near to Him to have a close relationship.

Then when we have gotten that close relationship, we can ask God, "help me Lord please, to touch somebody, cause everybody needs to know their loved" which is a quote from Deitrick's song "Help Somebody."

So in my opinion, this is a very good album, as long as I'm not looking for that old Deitrick Haddon sound. I like all the songs, especially when I'm at work and I need some smooth, gospel music. I would write more but I think I said more than enough..."

"With his body language, posture and wardrobe choice for his new album, "7 Days", you can tell Deitrick Haddon is not the same. I thought I was picking up an extremely worshipful and praise-worthy album that would usher me into the presence of God. "7 Days" sounded to me like it would behold the beauty of the earth the LORD created and take in all of His majesty in the everyday.

Wow, what a dissappointment.

Instead of saying "baby, baby" Deitrick substitutes the words "him." Its infuriating. How can you sing to the LORD like you are singing to a woman?! God deserves more respect and reverence.

This album is sad for me, because Deitrick Haddon has such an incentive to reach the young. But by not making your mission plain for all to hear, it becomes confusing, and you cannot honor God in confusion. Just because we are in the world, doesn't mean we have to be like it. I beleive in reaching all people and "becoming all things to all men" but I first believe in keeping a level of respect and honor for the Almighty and to remember that we sing to God first, before we sing to men. I just pray he comes back to the right path and never makes an album like this again."
Urban Gospel Hit !!!

"I absoulutely love this album! I think that this album is the best one that he's made. It's different but good from his other album. It seems to reach out bringing the old with the new generation. I enjoyed every single song! The cd begins with a nice intro 7 Days. 7 Days is an good song which indicates how he thinks about God 24-7. Count your blessings shows how far the Lord has brought him (also has that old school beat). It has a little interlude where he asks someone about Gospel music. Don't Go is one of my favorite songs which shows a relationship the beat sounds very familiar(same beat as R&B song Foolish). Heavenly Father indicates his prayer for his spriritual growth in the Lord. Rest is a nice peacful beat that before I'm the One which indicates how God shows everyone that he is the one that can fulfill one's needs. Heaven Knows really makes you think about what the country is facing and how God knows and will make things better. So Good to be in Love brings in the about the love of God with soulful flava. Clap Your Hands really makes you clap for Jesus with praise. Through it all emphasizes how God has beeen with him through all the trials and tribulations. Help Somebody emphasizes how everyone wants to be loved by someone. Inspiration emphasizes how God has inspired everyone and also emphasizes the praise, honor and glory to God. The album then revamps with an the lovely 7 Days outro. This cd is a It's the type of album that never wears out!"
