Debut album by eclectic multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Deckard Croix. While unabashedly wearing his many influences on his sleeve (most notably being Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, and Marc Bolan), Croix fluently, if roughly, taps into several genres. There's the acoustic rock and funky blues of Won't You Say and Shake Your Shoes, the aggressive punky rock of Going Out of Her Head, bassy funk of Mild Toad, the experimental avant-rock of Mannequin in Aspen, the hip-hop soul pop of So Long, funk rock of Hot Devil Rod, and a number of songs near-impossible to summarily classify. Apart from the three guest drummers, Croix performs all the instruments (as well as vocalist and composer) of the fifteen original tracks. Certainly an interesting creative fount, Croix can be blissfully exhausting and defiantly unrelenting in his creations. ~Nicole Wyman
