CD Reviews

It's hard to believe she's not even a teenager yet!

"Though I don't usually listen to folk-syle music, I couldn't help but love this album. Aselin uses her natural sweet voice to display a love of her province with the traditional Cape Breton songs "The Island", "Rise Again (which, even to someone who has never set foor in the Maritimes, are very moving), and the more fun and spirited "Getting Dark Again". Her medley of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" brings a fresh sound to two extremely over-done songs. Aselin even showcases some songwriting skills in the upbeat, feel good, make-the-most-of-your-life track, The Dance You Choose (my favorite on the album). Finally, the title track, "Sweet is the Melody" is a perfect song for Aselin's voice, and she couldn't have chosen a better song to title the album after, as it seems to portray everything she lives by. Through the whole album it is apparent how much this young lady loves her craft, and we can say with a large amount of certainty that she'll be around for a loooong time yet."

"This collection of songs in charming and Miss Debinsons voice is fresh and clean. She is destined to be the new Twain. This is a must have for anybody who loves folk, celtic, or just feel good music. I would definitly recommend it!!!"

"Aselin has a fresh quality in her voice rarely seen in the music community, she is obviously not trained, which makes her even more special, she is very comfortable with herself , it is clear she loves what she is doing , the celtic spirit is evident and I would recommend this tape/cd.
