Synopsis

Product Description
This recording of 24 Hebrew and English songs features 14 new and familiar Debbie Friedman compositions, along with 10 traditional Pesach songs. Originally created to accompany the Ma'yan Passover Haggadah (Ma'yan is the Jewish Women's Project of the JCC of the Upper West Side, New York), the songs included here bridge tradition with innovation, helping listeners to, in Debbie's words, "link ourselves to the past and still stretch our arms toward the future." This recording is perfect for use at home or communal Seders, or for pure listening enjoyment.

CD Reviews

A pleasure to listen to, with children or without.

"One of Debbie Friedman's most beautiful collections. I usually dislike traditional religious songs sung to new tunes, but I quickly came to regard these as the standards. My children and I both love it and they've learned alot just by singing along."
Fabulous feminist Pesach seder

"Traditional seder songs mixed with Friedman's own creations, this is music I listen to (and become renewed and inspired by) all year long."
A Passover Favorite

"I've been collecting Passover CDs. This is a favorite. I'm a fan of Debbie Friedman, and some of the songs in this collection are also found on some of her other CDs. But that's OK because they're good. I love to listen in the car and sing along. It doesn't take much to put me in the mood for Passover, but this is a great companion for the holiday.

This collection is the companion CD of a women's Haggadah for a women's seder. I haven't seen the haggadah, but it's not necessary for enjoying this CD."
