CD Reviews

Deadbolt - the greatest band ever? You bet!
Elvis-from-Hell | Fort Lauderdale, FL USA | 08/06/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Elvis, the Beatles, and Rolling Stones got nothin' on Deadbolt. Quite simply - Deadbolt is the greatest musical group to ever exist, regardless of genre. Combining the best elements of Link Ray-like dark guitar stylings, spy music instrumentals, the Cramps Psychedelic Jungle-era voodoo rhythms with Jim Thompson-like lyrics - these guys create one spicy bouillabaisse of sinister sounds. And on top of that, Harley Davidson may be the greatest, most expressive singer of all time.

Each album is so great in its own way, it's hard to identify just one as their best. I mean, is it really possible for mankind to identify just one work of Van Gogh or Da Vinci as "better" than the others or is it more accurate to say that they are all masterpieces? So it goes with Deadbolt - history will judge them as a band not by a single CD but by their entire oeuvre. Like I said, pure, unadulterated genius.

And remember, never ride a box car with Patches the Clown - 'cause he's the meanest 'Bo you ever seen."
I come as a friend, not as a foe

"DEADBOLT at their best. A full rail hitchin' concept tied to the darker side of the myths & history of the hobo, plus set to a background of back-alley surf music! Harley Davidson's vocals layed over vintage surf riffs smooth out all of the scary edges of the lyrics. It's a must-have to your collection."
Hobo Babylon Saved My Life

"From the toothless court in Pocatello Idaho to a bar in Juarez Mexico the Hobo Babylon reigns. Just don't ride with Patches. If ya don't love it you deserve a Twisted Skipper. See ya in Box Car number 7."
