Synopsis

Album Description
Visceral indie rock duo Deadboy & the Elephantmen began as a solo project for singer/guitar player and ex-Agents of Oblivion /Acid Bath member Dax Riggs in 2000. He spent several years playing with a rotating cast of local characters before taking it solo. We Sing Only of Blood or Love is a raw and honest example of Dax's sheer talent and ferocious voice.

CD Reviews

Excellent progression from the Swamp-Country-Blues-Rock muse

"Dax has come along way, and leaves no room for disappointment. He started turning more in the direction of a Bluesy-Rock hybrid in his last album "We Are Night Sky", and it continues its journey in "We Sing Of Only Blood Or Love". There's still a strong undercurrent of his own eerie melodies drawn from the strength and heart of the Bayous, and his unmistakable voice is that force which binds the very universe together. My only true disappointment came when the album was over. But that's what repeat is for.

Basically, it's an excellent album, give it a listen to for yourself. If you enjoyed the direction he was heading with "We Are Night Sky", then you'll love this album. And any hardcore Agents of Oblivion or Deadboy And The Elephantmen fans should be able to appreciate his poetry in music as well.

And despite what is listed in the album info, it actually has 3 additional tracks, 13) "The Wall of Death", 14) "Scarlett of Heaven Nor Hell" and 15) "Dethbryte"."
Good album but............

"the songs are too brief. He has undeniable talent as a lyricist and singer. My main problem with dax is that he cannot let the music breathe. The songs are too short. While there are some gems on here, I just can't help but feel a little put off that it's just over half an hour in length. The good songs are like little flashes that burn out too quick. I've seen him live multiple times, the live show is the same, fantastic but just too short. If I'm paying $15 for your cd or tickets to your show, I want to be rocked! And rocked for a while.

Don't get me wrong this is a great cd. I'll continue to support dax and go see him live. But if your cd's are going to be e.p. length then I'd like to be charged e.p. prices."
'We Sing of Only Night Sky' would be a great album

"This is a good listen, and the man can sing. Pity he didn't put the best tracks from 'We are Night Sky' with the choice numbers here. That would be a great album, and maybe Dax wouldn't be running around the country as an opening act, instead of being the headliner. 'We sing....' starts well, sags a bit in the middle and finshes strongly. The twisted acoustic and acoustic/electric blooze work best for me, highlighting the voice and the lyrics. Three and a half stars, because I don't think Dax has improved on 'We are Night Sky' by having a full band on this new album."
