Wash yourself in schizophrenia

"When schizoid psychedelic music gets punk rock, you get evil existential scary music like this. It's a new form of heavy metal perhaps. It's rich and colorful, but it's not pretty. Steven Wray Lobdell (if you want pretty, check out his Solo album, Automatic Writing By The Moon), who played with Faust for their 90s reunion, is from Portland and produces Six Organs of Admittance (one man space-folk forest psychedelia) and Hochenkeit (postrock). Lobdell makes both these sets of musicians shimmer, but it is phenemonal that his work playing in Davis Redford Triad does not make the record shimmer at all -- it makes it SHUDDER!Prepare yourself for an intense listening session with this, but it's not dense and inaccessible-without-drugs like the old Krautrock used to be. In fact, don't you dare do drugs with this record!!! The music is powerfully strange enough to induce those states alone. There are lots of eastern flourishes, and the best description of Lobdell's soloing style is BENT. reverb and delay and screeches and sludge."
