I'm not a great fan of sax-lead groups but chanced it. How Sills could be a vitual unknown is a mystery. His style reminds me of Pharoh Sanders best work (i.e., without the spacey bells & wistles). His sound is deep and resonating and the musical selection is tranquil without being remotely like smooth jazz. I ordered one of his other CDs immediately and found it just as rewarding. Naxos Jazz' low priced collection is well worth gambling on and Sills is a good example of why."
