Synopsis

Album Description
Something In Your Eyes, David Martin's self-produced debut album, offers elegant melodies, dramatic transitions, and one memorable chorus hook after another. David's album is the sort of achievement that is rarely even attempted in these cynical times, which is what makes it so striking and so necessary. Recall the classic hits of the `70s and `80s, presented by such songwriters as Billy Joel and Sting, and you realize that David Martin has picked up where these artists left off a quarter century ago. The ten songs that comprise Something in Your Eyes are completely honest - they are drawn entirely from experience, and the subject of each one is the love of David's life. They are sung with a thrilling combination of skillfulness and conviction. The company David keeps on the record is also testament to talent of this striking new artist: the album was mixed by Jeff Juliano (John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Jason Mraz), and David surrounded himself with a group of A-list players including Neil Robins (Dirt Poor Robins) and distinct drummer Manu Katché (Sting, Peter Gabriel). "I've done my best to be honest about love on this record," says David. "The deepest love I've experienced is on the other side of forgiveness. For me, true love is worth whatever it costs. I hope my songs spark a greater love for others.

CD Reviews

Great Voice, Positive Lyrics
D. Ermold | Langhorne, PA | 03/04/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"In a time in history where most songs are negative and draining, especially love songs, an album like this comes along. Here are ten songs celebrating the strength and amazement of the powerful emotion of love - even in the younger generation. I know very little about the artist personally except that he looks about my age and has similar beliefs, but his singing and writing are fantastic. He has a crystal clear voice that you can just tell that he's got it going on (i.e. he isn't some studio creation). He shows great delivery in switching between registers and in his range. I highly recommend this CD."
Lucky find.

"I had no idea who David Martin was. I had not heard anything he had done. I just saw this ablum and thought I would give it a try. I'm still shocked that no one has latched on to him and started to push his stuff. He is too good to be passed over. He has a clean sound with a pleasing range. In other words, you can listen to him over an over and not get worn out."
Awesome Album!
