"the recording quality is inconsistant.the voice behind the beard is consistantly intense.i would have gladly paid twice the price for this cd,if it included only one song:"jesus met the woman at the well".this van ronk guy can rear up and growel a lyric,and make you think he's a good friend whispering an important secret to you.these songs do what music is supposed to do.they make you feel.feel good,feel blue ,feel amused.i would have gladly paid twice the price for this cd,if it included only one song:"st.james infirmary".listen to the story.listen to the guitar.listen to the heart of the man.this van ronk guy's voice is a stradivarius on a street corner.there are thirteen gems in this cd jewelbox,each one worth the price of admission."
