Synopsis

Amazon.com
Considering that the band's previous six albums have only sold 80 thousand copies combined, it's unlikely this one sell the half mil needed for an official gold disc, but it's the best possible introduction to this politically incorrect punkabilly trio from New Orleans. Gold Record includes five of the band's favorite cuts from their previous albums as well as 11 new recordings, mostly of songs that have been staples of their live show for years. One of the new songs is country rock dream of being locked in a "Liquor Store" with a beautiful woman. Too manic to be retro and too rootsy to be punk, too juvenile to be artsy and too witty to be stupid, Dash Rip Rock carries forward the torch lit by the Cramps, Mojo Nixon, the Reverend Horton Heat, the Beat Farmers, and the late Country Dick Montana. --Geoffrey Himes

Dash ROCKS!
06/30/1998
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Dash Rip Rock is the coolest, baddest true rock 'n' roll band around. Their live shows are unrivalled. If you're sick of all the generic angst-ridden sounds-the-same X-games teeny-bopper pretend rock 'n' roll out there, Dash Rip Rock is your salvation. You should buy all Dash's albums if you know what's good for you, but the Gold Record is a great primer for the uninitiated."
