It mixes Stax-era dirty Soul and rootsy Garage Punk with funky Country Rock and low Country Shag. Every song is about partying, being at a party or the characters you might meet at a party. Inspiration for these rowdy tunes comes from the Mar-Keys, Huey Smith and the Clowns, Swingin' Medallions, Doug Clark And His Hot Nuts, Southern Culture On The Skids, Mojo Nixon, Cowboy Mouth, Otis Day And The Nights, Archie Bell And The Drells and any other Southern band that has "and the" in their name. CD ReviewsEvery song is about partying Carl Perkins | 08/10/2010 (5 out of 5 stars) "Call of the Wild is the south's greatest party band's penultimate party record. It flows like a cool DJ mix that might have been put together in 1972 - funky and staxy - but punky and garagey at the same time. Kickass sound quality - plays great loud on a jambox or a huge PA - the production's got balls and guts. This is DRR's 15th record and it pretty much encapsulates all of its predecessors - it's not a Sunday morning record but it's a Friday and Saturday night disc especially if you have a house full of drunk people"
