Memories from a Historic Moment

"An exellent CD from a moment in history that never will be forgotten. Daniel Barenboim and the Berlin Filharmonics have not rehersed before the concert - the decision of inviting the guests from DDR was taken on the evening before. You can hear the emotions from the conductor and the conductor. You can feel the presence of the big audience.
Lean back and take it in. Let your thoughts wander, let the memories come.
Then ...... try to find the very hard to find Video.
I found it on Amazon.com .... it is the most valuable video I have."
Matchless!

"The emotion of this recording is one of the reasons that make this the best version of both works available today. Recorded live on November 12, 1989 at a special concert given for the visitors from East Germany. Barenboim surpasses himself as both a conductor and soloist. The Largo movement of the Concerto is unsurpassed in its poignancy. One phrase always brings tears to my eyes. Finally, you will never again hear the Symphony No. 7 without remembering the cheers of the audience at the end of the last movement. They are unforgettable and the listener now joins in the cheers."
