CD Reviews

I believe in a thing called ROCK!!!!
John Anthony Moroso | Kansas City, MO USA | 04/20/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Darkness Rock, plain and simple, and this single is proof. Being a fan of classic 1970's Rock and Roll, I was instantly hooked on The Darkness. If you too like Classic Rock, and are sick of the musical vomit festering throughout the airwaves, this single is just the ticket to get you Rocked! Here's the songs:1. I Believe in a Thing Called Love- My favorite song from their debut album, "Permission to Land", it captures the Rock and Roll essence of The Darkness. Great riff, with Justin Hawkins' wailing vocals carrying the awesome music.
2. Makin' Out- Hard Rocking song about, well, making out. Great lyrics, with some definite AC/DC inspired guitar work. It's a down and dirty Rocker.
3. Physical Sex- This song is one of The Darkness' best songs. It's better than a lot of the songs on their album, it's that awesome. Great Rock riffs, plus some of Justin's best lyrics, with an awesome chorus, "Fi Seh Cul (...)!". The notes he hits on this song proves not only that God exists, but that he also likes Rock and Roll.
4. Out of My Hands- Pretty song, definitely the softest on this single. It's happy and moving, Darkness all the way. This single is a must have for any fan of The Darkness, or any fan of Rock and Roll in general. Believe it!"
A breath of fresh air

"The Darkness brings a fresh of breath air into the metal genre. They have great riffs, piercing vocals, and awesome solos. It may not be right for everyone, though. The people who gave it one star just don't like the style of the music. If you like metal and miss the arena rock and metal of the 70's and 80's then you will like this record."
