These kids rock! Their "Lord Did You Hear Harrison?" is brilliant--the Stones meet the TV show Zoom on helium! Donning medical garb, symbolizing the healing essence of music, Danielson Famile are madcap Muppet-ish gospel folkies jammin' for Jesus and the hope for elevated consciousness everywhere. From one moment to the next, their sound veers from campfire sing-along to Christian vaudeville to the silliest, most-fun-ever, strummy, bouncy acoustic rock. A family affair, Danielson is big brother Daniel Smith, 26 (who birthed the band as his senior thesis at Rutgers), and younger sibs, who range in age from 14 to 23. Rounding out the combo is buddy Chris Palladino, whose organ adds psychedelic girth to the acoustic guitar and drums, which are fortified by the sisters' flute and xylophone and the blend of voices. Smith is the Daniel Johnston meets Muppet Animal meets Beck-inspired genius-savant who makes Danielson jive, jingle, and spark. --Paige La Grone

Not Your Typical Christian Music
hunkydorey | Dorchester, MA United States | 06/07/2001

"If you are not a typical Christian--well, if you're not a typical human being--this could be a good cd for you. Where most Christian music seems to be lacking in originality, these guys have an excellent message and an ecellent way of telling it. Very unique! This is the only Christian music I would listen to if I wasn't a Christian.. and that's saying something."

"I think I like this album the most, but all their album are good. Catchy good songs that took a wrong turn and ended up better songs because of it."
Most unique band alive today, hands down!

"this is part one of the tri-danielson series and is superb, just as is every album by this great band. what do they sound like? well, daniel has a really high pitched voice that sort of resembles the guy from the pixies. the background singing is cute and adds a lot to the songs. the actual song structures are very intersting and either really catchy or jams that are crazy! one thing i love about this band and all their songs is that they are so honest about their christian beliefs and i, being a fellow christian, get a lot out of there music. for anyone, they offer deep morality and explain christian beliefs really simply- for those who may not understand.they are acoustic yet can really rock out and you'll easily find yourself singing along, possibly not understanding what you're saying- but once you do, it will astound you! i know it does for me! buy this album and the one that came after it ( omega). i personally like " omega" more, but this is definitely an a+!"
