CD Reviews

Komitas, The Great Armenian Composer (1869 - 1935)
Haroot Avanesian | La Crescenta, CA United States | 09/03/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Tucked in a collection of music by European composers finally a major classical record label CHANDOS releases music by Komitas and in what fashion! You can argue how accurately the title of the album "Dances from the Heart of Europe" applies to this music nevertheless Komitas's Armenian folk dances/songs arranged for chamber orchestra and recorded here will be a delight to the listeners familiar to the music and will become an instant love affair to those not so familiar with them. You will cherish this one-of-a- kind album for years to come."

Only for the Armenian & Greek +A+++

"Excellent Chandros sonic quality & fine musicianship. The greek and armenian arangements are full of life and nuance of expression. For them alone I certainly can recommend this cd. But some of the other orchestrations are uninspired and simply boring."
