CD Reviews

Very good new release in Hebrew!
Samir Castro | Mexicali, B.C., México | 01/06/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"After almost 7 years, Dana released an album in Hebrew, and not only for the Israeli market but worldwide now thru Internet. I bought the CD when it first came out, I review it now cos, besides nobody has done it, it's fair to do so despite time.

I liked almost the entire album, it's on retro-disco style and came well distributed. I could say the only flaws (and not so big) are "Ten li-jiót [Let live]", "Ha-kol ihé varód [All will be pink]" and "Ve ajére ha-kol [And after all]"; the new version of "Ad sof ha-zman [Until the end of time] was good in the aspect they revamped it and it's more danceable than the original version in "Free [Israel edition]" but lacked the disco pace it had on that one.

The medium songs are "Yotér ve-yotér [More and more]", "La-qum ba-bóqer [To get up in the morning]" (I don't know why they wrote "No reason" on the backsleeve) and "Atá ha-Di G'ey shelí [You are my DJ]". Why medium? 'Cause they're repetitive sometimes, but still listeneable.

On the other hand, the best songs are "Nitsájti [I won]", "Élef yamím shel ahavá [1000 days of love]", "Atá horés [You mess up]", "Hargashá tová [Good feeling] (evoking Spice Girls' "Holler"), "Shir [Song]" and "Ba-dérekj el ha-jófesh [On the way to freedom]".

If there wasn't a 100% of good songs why 5 stars?? Cos it has a booklet with LYRICS!!!!! Of course they're in Hebrew, but doing some research one gets to know what they say (you can get them TRANSLATED, including all her albums, at phreak.co.uk/dana/). Besides the photo art is wonderful.

For those who don't know, Dana is a Dance singer, most of all her songs are in Dance style; therefore, this album is almost all Dance and nothing more than Dance: she's recognized in Israel (and even on its Arab neighbors) for that; she didn't start from "Diva", she did it quite before (back to 1993) and this is where a good artist gets when it grows and develops. "Yotér ve-yotér" is an excellent album, very mature. I strongly recommend it, especially if you're a "newie" on her."
