CD Reviews

Daisy Debolt - So bloody obscure
Hoosier | Solsberry, IN United States | 07/08/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Daisy Debolt was the better half of the "Canadian super group" of the 1970's Frazer and Debolt. If you have broad taste in music, her voice in incredible... (See Aretha Franklin, with wonderful folk harmonies. She is unique!!! Without her, the term "modern folk" has no meaning, with her, IT IS. Daisy e-mailed me:
"yes modern folk, my life's work....
not everyone's cup of tea....too intense for the meek, too raw / deep...etc."All of her music has her powerfully solid vocals and beautiful harmonies backed by superb Canadian musicians. Along with her uniqueness, Tom Waits, The Doors, Aretha, Billy Holiday's jazz, gospel, show tunes, African, Caribbean, opera and poetry all wave through your mind as you listen to her. Lot's of accordion and traditional folk backing. Owning a Daisy Debolt CD is like having the last bottle of a vintage fine wine. This one is out of print. If I didn't get the last copy, you should. Cherish it.Other CD's she has done since the 1970's:SOULSTALKING - 1993
