CD Reviews

Journey through rhythm with rhythm
03/26/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD is best listened to alone, in a quiet space, turned up good and loud. The music is at times very quiet and solitary, and at other times, loud and frightening. It takes the listener on a journey through many spaces, ending at last with an arrival at a mythical city. Great stuff!"

Dark Star-The Other One | The Bus To Never Ever Land | 03/03/2007

"This is a very good album by Mickey Hart. When it was originally released on lp it was an audiophile recording played at 45 rpm. In other words, it was short. The cd has a long bonus live track that is somewhat long. Most of the album is very quiet prompting you to turn up your stereo. Be careful, the volume does increase. This is a wonderful "soundscapes" album with many great songs and the sound is superb. It was recorded at the Japan Center Theater in San Francisco without an audience and it really does capture the sound of the room well. This is probably not the kind of album that you're going to listen to alot, but when you do you'll really enjoy it."
Mickey Hart gets my vote as best percussionist of all time.

"I found out about this cd from one of the engineers who worked on it, whom I met at the 09 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. Mickey is up to his usual tricks on making an incredible percussion work of art. This cd is an awesome sounding recording and is great to not only listen too, but to also use as a reference cd in evaluating high end audio gear (does not include bose since it is JUNK).

Anybody that likes drums must own this and all of Mickey's cd's."
