"The latest offering from DJ Maj "The Ringleader" is an instant classic! I bought this in Oct 2K3 and still bang it occasionally when I need to hear something fresh! The first actual track by Lisa Kimmey "The Ringleader" is tight and the way it flows into 4th Ave. Jones "What you want" is enough to make you feel the flow. This CD is Christ centered and as a result is not filled with mindless trash (a la secular rap) but words of life. I just can't express to you how tight it is. If you love christian hip hop, the mixes of a DJ and music in general then get this CD. Other stand out tracks inclue Sev Static "All for a purpose" in which Maj just blows up and the R&B inspired "Under Pressure" by Antonio. Hey when is Antonio's debut CD dropping?Maj = Magic...get the CD...as a mattter of fact is you missed the last 2 get them also."
From a secular hip-hop head...

"I've been into the underground hiphop scene pretty heavily for about the past four years, and I listen to a very wide variety of artists...Some Christian, most secular. My mother is a very strong Christian, and I received DJ Maj's third "mixtape" (it's not actually available on cassette to my knowledge, so why call it this?) as a Christmas gift. I was a little bit skeptical, but also a little bit reassured by the vibe I got from looking at the booklet, etc. When I popped the CD in, I was pretty pleased with it. Maj's mixing style certainly isn't up there with greats like Cut Chemist, DJ Premiere, Mixmaster Mike, etc. but it's definitely far from bad, and I definitely enjoyed the remixed tracks that Maj took a more active role in.My favorite tracks on the CD are:
'Never Heard Before'
'Ooh, Aah'
'Sev Statik Speaks'
'God Music'
'DJ Maj Attack'
and, 'The Ringleader'Tracks I actively dislike are:
'Combustible Speaks'
'What You Want'
'Under Pressure'
'So Excited'A lot of the styles displayed by the artists featured on this CD stuck me as very mainstream. I'm a fan of more experimental hip-hop like Jurassic 5, Del, the Quannum and Warp labels, that kind of thing. But, I do understand that Christian artists have an obligation to provide an alternative to secular music. Thus, the mainstream sound of many of the tracks is probably a good thing even if it makes the CD less interesting to me.I have been DJing for about three years, and when I listen to mixes a lot of what I enjoy is the technical aspect, listening to the techniques used by the DJ and thinking 'Hey, I know how he did that.' or 'Whoa, I should really try something like that out.' DJ Maj definitely has a very smooth mix going down on this disc, but his style wasn't quite interesting enough to keep me entertained, which made me listen to this CD more for the music than the mixing. Many of my favorite mixtapes and mix CDs contain as many as 50 tracks, so I was skeptical about the quality of the mix when I looked at the tracklist on the CD. However, most of the tracks are really quite good, and I didn't find myself losing interest.Overall, my impression is that Maj is a pretty skilled DJ and most of the tracks on this CD are highly listenable. It might not keep turntablist-heads entertained, but it's a fun CD with a good mix of uptempo and hardcore tracks. I know there are different schools of thought in Christian hiphop as to the appropriate way to convey your message, and I think they're represented equally well here. There are even a couple songs with a very R&B sound. Definitely worth checking out."
Beautifuly constructed.

"Man, soon as I popped this disk in my CD player it already had me up on my feet. The transistions into each song is virtualy flawless. This CD feeatures variouse Christian Rap artists such as Grits, John Ruben and Verbs. He even throws in a little R&B with Antonio. This CD is now #1 in my collection. Everyone that is into Christian Hip-Hop should definintly pick up this disk, no doubt. Keep up the good work DJ Maj. Blessings"
