CD Reviews

Wish I could be at the album release party on the 29th!!!!
Enigma | NY, Queens | 04/26/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Being from New York, I have heard a great deal of these songs either during peak hour, or afterhours. It is so refreshing to finally hear an album that has so many of my current favorite tracks. Few recent albums are this good, especially when it comes to tribal, deep, hard house music. Boris surprisingly has no personal productions on this album, which takes away from him as a DJ, but the overall work represents his style ultimately. That is, he is not known for his personal productions as so many more highly regarded DJs are. Boris is the people's DJ, or more specifically the New Yorker's DJ, and this is reflected in his latest work. All the songs that made us scream for mercy, yell "Woooooooo!!!!!!!!!", and dance until our bodies ached are contained within this excellent compilation, which features some of today's best talent such as Bailey and Santana, and on the rise Djs like Dj Rooster and Peralta.

From a technical view, I disagree with whom ever said that all the tracks sound alike--it takes a fine sense of house music and a keen ear to distinguish between different songs, albeit at times. However this is a testament to how seemlessly this ablum was formulated; its transitions are mostly flawless and so artfully woven. To be fair, since it might seemed that I questioned his Dj abililty, Boris demontrates why he is one of today's best Djs' and that is largely due to how beautifully he makes transitions bewteen tracks. He is a master at reading the crowd. He knows when we need rest, when we need much more, when we need it hard, soft, soulful, and deep. Boris makes me feel like a tribesman, and he is my chief. I can't but help to unleash my inner jungle-man and dance to the sounds of Africa, South America, and the new york "concrete jungle." Buy Believe not because I told you, but because it is a classic and a must-have for anyone who loves dance music, or at least hoppin on the newest trend. "We're like roaches we never die.
