"Buxtehude surely must have been influenced by the Lutheran tradition as much as J.S.Bach,both masters well express the importance of the place of the organ in chorale preludes, toccata, and corporate worship.I must admit that i have little knowledge of Buxtehude's life and work but i know great organ composition in the liturgical church tradition and this box-set is some of the finest i have purchased and enjoyed.the instruments herein are, apparently of the Arp-Schnitger family in Denmark and Holland, for the most part. these are also joined by the modern Aubertin in S. Frances zu Vichy.(an organ which though quite modern has fallen into hopeless disrepair since these recordings were made in the early 90's.)the recordings are perfectly miked(good reverb) drawing in all the brilliance and sparkle of the positiv flutes and the wonderous raspiness of the posaunes. Ulrik Sprang-Hanssen's effort in these recordings is flawless & delightful. the discs are divided up into the six seasons of the liturgical church year.i have one major issue with this set, however, there are NO notes, registrations, just brief data recording when and where they were recorded.anyway,it's fun to look up the organs and compositons on Google while listening.the Aubertine in Vichy has quite a story.5 starz even sans the booklet.this is excellent Baroque Organ on real Baroque organs, played by a master intrepeter."
Very economic price, great album

"This a a great Buxtehude Album for everyone.

The price is very good, the quality is amazing.

But one tiny thing that's not good is that

there isn't actual description booklet.

Just the name of composition."
Good choice

"Great value & quality set. What "burns my but" that no booklet enclosed. When download to iTunes it come like this: (disk 3) or so, which means do it yourself.

Overall greatly recommend: very good price and the quality is exceptional. Must have for Baroque music lovers.
