D'Amphibians (pronounced 'damphibians') have been jamming in and near San Francisco over a decade. Their swampy sound is both great party music and great road music, and has a distinctive funky bounce overlaid by the exceptional guitar wizardry of Chris Rossbach. Rossbach has played and recorded with many famous musicians out of New Orleans and San Francisco, notably Zigaboo Modeliste of the Meters, and evokes many influences from Jerry Garcia to Mark Knopfler but indeed has a psychedelic style all his own. D'Amphibians were honing their craft of marathon live shows and improvisation around the same time as their contemporaries Phish and Blues Traveler, inspired by bootleg live tapes of the Meters from the '70s. 'Water Tight' does a good job of capturing in the studio the jam crescendos and upbeat message of their live show.
