"I was introduced to Cumberland Gap at the Oyster Bar in St. Louis. By the time they took their first break, I had to buy the CD...I didn't want to wait until the end of the show and have them run out. Their album does a great job of capturing the energy they display on stage. Cecil Tinnon plays an incredible mandolin. How his hands don't catch fire I'll never know, he plays blindingly fast and is accurate in his fret work. Kevin Liley shows his prowess on banjo, mandolin, and fiddle, playing them all very, very well. Aaron Muskopf keeps the beat with his beautiful stand-up bass work. Aaron and Kevin also sing in voices that perfectly blend with and compliment that of lead vocalist Greg Silsby. Greg plays guitar for the band and sings in voice that rivals the greats of bluegrass. Greg's voice conveys the maturity you would expect to hear from a seasoned veteran. Listening to Cumberland Gap it's easy to think that they are a band that's been together for 30 years. They play tight together whether they're doing a cover of a bluegrass classic or one of their original songs. And you'd never know which songs are classics and which are originals without reading the liner notes of this album. If you don't believe me, buy the album and check out my favorite of all the songs they perform, "Count the Years". Hopefully you'll get to see them live someday, but for now just buy this album on the advice of me, their number 1 fan."
