"I considered this album overall enjoyable, just like I enjoyed most albums by Culture. On the other hand, I doubt whether this is the best album by Culture, but it does not stay really behind on their other albums. Many songs have that lively style with uplifting chanting which I can appreciate, but are somewhat - how can I put it - simpler, less elaborated, than on other albums. The chanting style, and Joseph Hill's sort of free style singing and talking adds that extra quality. The music is the lively, rootsy reggae style, also found on other Culture albums, but some songs ('War in Sierra Leone', 'Cape coast to Ja') have a somewhat distinct drum-based music, which doesn't sound bad.
A weak point is that some parts of the album are, here and there, somewhat monotonous."
