This is an absolutely wonderful disc that is captivating, charming, challenging, relaxing, and completely enjoyable. There are moments of unexpected fanciful piano jaunts into century old material that jumps to life through McDermott's agile touch. These are the moments that would always draw me away from the everyday mundane to the misty rememberances of long forgotten daydreams. McDermott is the standout on this disc. Very few, if any, pianists have such an all encompassing, broadly influenced, New Orleans approach to the keyboard.

Connie Jones has some fine moments as well. He plays the way he's always played, a direct, straight ahead, New Orleans style trumpet with a slight smear attached to note placement. He sings on a few numbers-Tishomingo Blues and I Don't Want Nuthin' for Christmas-and it pulls you right into the lush ambience.

There are 15 tunes on this delightful disc. All of them have an almost old-world charm that is fresh and inviting. Tom McDermott has scored big with this one and Connie Jones can take a bow as well. This may be one of this years greatest sleepers. Outstanding !
