Synopsis

Product Description
Comunalien has always been recognized for their appeal to the Lo-Fi lovers, underground backpackers and oldschool vetrans alike. Many have heard their story from Manifest Destiny, their last release on Syntax Records. For those who haven't been fortunate enough to be in the know, the unmatched lyrical genius, Reuben A.P. (Antonio Paulson) and legendary producer, Nickels formed the monsterous hip hop group, Comunalien. Tragically, the group ended in a heated debate about in-reach ministry vs. out-reach ministry. Shortly after, Nickels and Reuben patched things up and were planning on recording again once Reuben returned from a year long college tour in Hawaii. Six days before his return to permanently reside in Washington State again, his life was cut short. Reuben talked to Nickels the day prior to his death and wanted to show him a verse he'd wrote to one of his beats. Nickels was at work and didn't have time to listen to it. He heard the beat the verse was written to, but never got a chance to listen to Reuben's last and final verse. Before all of this is when Campus Earth was created. Nickels landed a producing contract and gained access to a recording studio in Seattle. As a result, Reuben and Nickels put together what was to be the studio version of Campus Earth. After some consideration during the negotiation between Syntax Records and Nickels in 2001, the name was changed to Manifest Destiny. The original recordings of the first Campus Earth stayed in Nickels' basement... Until now. End of Earth Records and SOUNDMIND records are proud to announce the release of Campus Earth fresh from the vaults! The concept of this record was to create songs with nothing but a sampler, a hand me down mic, a 1200 and a mini disk recorder. There were no double tracks, no editing and no over production! Real raw and hard cut material! If either one of them made a mistake that either of them couldn't live with, they re-recorded it. With many comical interludes and random ideas, Campus Earth proves to be one of the basement DJ and sleeping lyrical giant's best work. More is in store, but End of Earth and SOUNDMIND thought that it was time to let fans get a closer and more intimate view of COMUNALIEN!!! Enjoy!!! Definitely make sure you pick this project up. Not only will you be buying some of the best hip-hop around, you ll also feed starving children and help free slaves all around the world (literally!).
