This CD contains six sonatas for keyboard (from the convent of Encarnación de Osuna) and six
pastorelas for pianoforte (from manuscript 2998 of the Montserrat Abbey), performed by Sevilian pianist Pedro Piquero. Blasco de Nebra's music brings to mind sensations such as tenderness, sweetness, fantasy, and languor. In the adagios of the Pastorelas, these qualities are so pronounced that they become almost painful, like the pain of a poignant hesitation unexpectedly reaching
dissonance, or of the sensual delight kindled by the solitary, naked sound of a single note after all the others have faded.
