"You like Dvorak? Buy this set. You like chamber music? Buy anything performed by the Panocha Quartet or the Suk Trio. These Czech musicians are astonishing. These Dvorak chamber works are among the most beautiful creations of humankind. Depending on how I'm feeling on a given day, these are my favorite performances of these pieces. On days when I want a little more zip, I'll listen to the Prazak Ouartet's versions. Unfortunately, the Prazaks haven't recorded the complete cycle of Qts/Qnts. Fortunately, they are all still alive so we can hope for more. (You try one of the Prazak recordings, you'll want them all as well. Trust me.) You also have to get the Lindsay's Qt. #13, Op. 106 and the Op. 97 Qnt. And then you relly need the Carmina Quartet's #12 and #14, Ops. 96 and 105. And, what the hell, the Richter/Borodin Qt. recording of the Op.81 Quintet and the Vienna Trio recordings of the piano trios. When I say you will "have to" get these recordings, I'm talking compulsive behavior. When you hear how truly ravishing this music is, you'll want a spectrum of performances. I own all these Supraphon recordings and I bought them all SEPARATELY. As they say in the comics, "ARRRRGH!" The only problem with these discs is it'll be months before you listen to anything else. They are addictive. (And if you add a little port to the proceedings, you'll end up weeping.) Start your listening with the Suks and the Piano Quartets."
Dvorak Complete Chamber works are delectable

"Usually when we think of Antonin Dvorak, we think of his symphonies, particularly the Ninth New World Symphony. I went looking for his string quartets and chamber music, and I wasn't disappointed. On the 100th anniversary of his death, this box set is a beaut. Sypraphon records Czech by Czech. Josef Suk and the Suk Trio are my favorites. I was overwhelmed after listening to the fifteen cds. Although I might make $50 on this, I need to absorb Dvorak's music some more."
