Synopsis

Album Description
Following their celebrated self-titled debut, The Come Ons release Hip Check! on Sympathy For The Record Industry Records. The record's 12 hip-shakin' tracks boast 10 originals and two covers, mixing sweet and sexy grinders amid funky instrumentals, characteristic of their first LP. Hip Check! was engineered and co-produced by Jim Diamond at Ghetto Recorders in Detroit. John Szymanski of The Hentchmen plays harmonica on one track then lends his keyboard stylings to a Wilmer & The Dukes cover while Brian Olive of The Greenhornes plays electric piano on 'Mesmerizer', a Fantasies cover.

CD Reviews

Someone has to give this album a deserving review

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Just picked this one up off one of my friends. Good oldschool rock to boogey down to or put in the back of a party. It has a very Mooney Suzuki feel to it. I hope this band really gets more noteriety since they are more talented than most of those New York rock bands. The lead singer's voice is really smooth and relaxed.

My favorite track is 'Strangelove', a sort of sorrowful ballad with nothing but a guitar, a keyboard, and vocals. Good stuff."
Fun! Fun! Fun!

"While I wish the disc clocked in longer than 35 minutes, it is crammed with fun songs that get you moving. The Come Ons do not have typical sound and I think anyone would enjoy this effort! Be sure to check out track 11 - I'll Show You Why - my personal fave."
