OKLAHOMA LOVES COLIN
09/15/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Perhaps the greatest break-up album of all-time, "Transcendental Highway" transcends (sorry) the maudlin and goes straight for the heart. If you are a man who was ever dumped or lost love, this album takes off the brave face and looks in the mirror of anger, anguish and triumph over the feelings of loss. Hay's voice is mature and is music is muscular--but not overladen with testosterone. BUY THIS ALBUM. You will not regret it.Alex G. Oklahoma City, OK"
Excellent!!!

"First things first, Colin Hay is an EXTREMELY talented perfomer. Men at Work was a 1980's pop band - like it or not (I loved them too) - and I am firmly convinced Mr. Hay would have made it on his own merit if there had never been a band called Men at Work. This CD will make you say, 'Gee, we grew up'. That being said, this CD is even better than Going Somewhere. Mr. Hay's starting tracks are a little odd, Going Somewhere starting with an almost whimsical "Beautiful World" and this one with "Transcendental Highway", a 'speaking song', where he melodically speaks the lyrics. There is nothing to compare it to but if it has not been used in advertising yet, it soon will be. They may be odd, but they are great. The other tracks are more along the lines of the really good 'alternative' music, but - again - it is difficult to find a comparison. Somewhere between James Taylor and Don Henley? As the previous reviewer said, this CD is definitely worth the money!"
Yes.

"I got this one a few months ago (July 2000) and it has stayed firmly in my CD rotation. Opening with the title track, Colin Hay winds his way through this wonderful collection of songs. The first five alone are worth the price of this CD. A nod and a smile to the man with the lazy eye."
