Synopsis

Album Description
Get ready for something fresh, original and interesting. Call it tropical, topical, but not so typical. Coconut Joe debut CD Two Waters presents a unique blend of pop, rock, light jazz and blues, all sprinkled with a little shredded coconut and luscious vocal harmonies. Perhaps the bridging of mainland adult contemporary and island music. The group features the original songs of Hawaii born and raised singer/songwriter Bobby Rogers, veterans guitarist/vocalist Frank Kam, drummer/vocalist Macy Campbell as well as bassist/vocalist Barbara Ann Rogers. The CD takes us on a eclectic musical and poetic journey through the eyes of a small town boy raised in the Islands. There's "Hawaiian Rain" which tells us of the lure of the islands; a haunting "Thomas Wyles" delivers us to the cliffs of the Koolaus; while "A Summer's Wave" take us soul surfing on Oahu's North Shore. Don't let the smooth vocals fool you, the band cooks on the blues number "Humpback Whale," and the pop-rock tune, "Two Pineapples in NY City." For the local folks there are two slack key numbers, both in English. "Two Waters" tells the story of the first people to land on the Windward shores of Oahu and the gentle lullaby, "All Pau," is dedicated to the songwriter's mother. Pick up this CD if you want to be treated to a breath of fresh air; a blend of contemporary music with Island themes. Recommended for both kamaainas (locals) and malahinis (visitors) alike.
