Synopsis

Album Description
Digitally remastered edition of this 1959 collection from the R&B greats. The Coasters' Greatest Hits was just their second album release, a belated follow-up to 1957's The Coasters album on Atco. By the time 1959 came around, The Coasters had registered a dozen R&B and Pop hits in their U.S. homeland, including the Pop chart topper 'Yakety Yak' and the R&B chart toppers 'Young Blood', 'Searchin'' and 'Poison Ivy'. These smashes are featured here, as is their very first chart hit 'Down In Mexico'. Hallmark. 2010.

CD Reviews

Not the orginal tracks

"The buyer should be aware that these are not the original recordings of the Coasters' greatest hits. This album was digitally recorded in 1996 by a group of long-in-the-tooth, possibly replacement Coasters. The songs lack some of the punch of the originals. However, I bought the record for my daughter, who was a big fan of their songs "Charlie Brown" and "Poison Ivy." as I wanted her to also experience such gems as "Yakety Yak" and "Along Came Jones." The record did serve that purpose admirably, and who can argue with the price?"
These are NOT the original versions.

"Buyer beware. You can find a better and more comprehensive collection of Coasters tunes in "50 Coastin' Classics". Do not buy this version by Onyx! These are re-recordings."
