CD Reviews

CLASSIC 1970'S CLIFF RICHARD
Frederick J. Hepburn | 02/24/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Cliff Richard 1970's is, in my opinion one of his best compilation CD's to date. These sixteen tracks were released to commemorate Cliff's 40th year in show business and it's a real gem. This CD is easy listening and contains beautiful ballads such as Lovers and When Two Worlds Drift Apart, to the raunchier Why Should The Devil Have All The Good Music. There are some lesser known songs such as Nothing Left For Me To Say and No One Waits.Another pleasant highlight is Needing a Friend which Cliff apparently had a hand in co-writing.There is a cover of the old Sonny and Cher hit Bang Bang - I can't say it was a personal favourite but worth a listen for those who haven't previously heard his version. Cliff and Olivia team-up for the only duet on the album a sweet but simple song titled Don't Move Away. You'll probably need to buy two copies of this CD for friends who want to borrow it, once they realise that Cliff's repertoire is larger than the same handful of hits that are repeatedy flogged by radio stations. The beauty of this compilation CD is that it saves you from carrying around a dozen other Cliff CD's in your car.Great five star listening pleasure!"
Excellent Sound Quality

"I judge the remastering sound quality using my CD recording meters. If the sound level consistently goes to the max (it never exceeds it), the songs almost always sound great. Here is excellent quality sound that I'll add to my 1970s home-made CD collection."
