Synopsis

Album Description
Clay County is a California based bluegrass band. Twelve of the fourteen songs were written by lead singer Sue Nikas. "Orphan Train", words and music by Utah Phillips, is a poignant depiction of the trains that carried slum kids to the midwest during the period of 1868 to 1929. Sue Nikas says that everybody has a "Beautiful Baby" in their lives. And "Been There Done That" is advice to the lovelorn. Jim Dawson, banjo player to the band, dedicates the traditional song, "There Are More Pretty Girls Than One" to his four daughters. The album brochure includes all the words to the fourteen cuts on this album. Guest players on this album are Dennis Caplinger, Les Johnson, Doug Marshall and Leslie Spitz. The album was mixed and mastered by Dennis Caplinger.
