Synopsis

Album Description
The title track of this classic CD was among the first to celbrate the poignant story of a mentally-challenged man in Anderson, SC, the coach who mentored him and the town that came to love him. The story is now the subject of a major film with CUBA GOODING, JR. and ED HARRIS. Chuck's song came to the attention of the movie's creative team who gave Chuck a walk-on in the picture and even included an editted version of his song in the soundtrack. You can hear this classic track its entire form here, as well as other Brodsky classics like the baseball/spy tale "Moe Berg," his road rage anthem "Blow 'em Away" and the rocking "Creepsville."

CD Reviews

WOW!
Edward T. Bennett | Northern California | 02/19/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"My brother-in-law introduced us to Chuck Brodsky with this album. Since then we've purchased his two other albums and we were so excited about this young folksinger, that we travelled 300 miles for a moving coffeehouse performance. "Radio" (and for that matter the earlier "Letters in the Dirt") is a charming "first time listen", but we found ourselves replaying each song in order to understand each word and fully appreciate his wonderful poety. Chuck has an uncanny ability to make his characters and stories come to life. It is hard not to be touched. "Radio" get's my album-of-the-year-award!"
Folk Guitarist's Favorite

"I first heard Mr. Broadsky perform on public radio. I also play folk guitar (just for my family) and I thought his songs were insightful and fun, so I immediatly bought myself the CD "Radio". Now it's one of my favorite CD's (and my cowboy-husband's favorite too)!"
Sounds like John Prine!

"John Prine has always been a favorite of mine and now Chuck is too. "Radio" is a great story and perfectly told. It makes me want to go to a highschool football game in Anderson S.C. and see the warmth the song portrays. Chuck Brodsky for his stories and Carla Ulbrich for her humor have become my modern day folk favorites! Get this CD, you won't be disappointed. Mike"
