Synopsis

Album Description
Most famously the creator of The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game and mastermind and host of the wildly popular and utterly bizarre Gong Show, Chuck Barris has produced some of the most innovative and groundbreaking television of our time. The subject of a major motion picture ?Confessions of a Dangerous Mind?, his best selling unauthorized autobiography brings to the podium the hilarious chronicle of his rise in Hollywood, his exploits as a CIA assassin, his triumphs as a best selling author, hit music writer and the real story of how he changed television forever. A consummate entertainer, Chuck reveals another side of his talents with his debut release, Confessions of a Dangerous Singer. Performing some of the most classic standards of our day, You?re Nobody ?till Somebody Loves You, On the Sunny Side of the Street, Mr Sandman, Ain?t Misbehavin? as well as Bob Dylan?s Don?t Think Twice, Chuck compliments this collections with his songwriting talents as well including his 1962 hit Palisades Park and Old Mother Trucker.

CD Reviews

BARRIS IS BACK!
05/30/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Remember "Chuckie Baby" from the Gong Show? That funny little guy who wore all those nutty hats down over his eyes and clapped his hands together a lot and insulted half the Gong Show's guests (and all its viewers!) is back, with a real smooth & easy CD that proves as much fun as Mister Barris himself! Notable among the tunes are "Mother Trucker" and "Palisades Park", both written by the man with the dangerous mind (and voice!). This is VERY easy listening, and FUN too! Just hearing Chuckie's voice brought back all the magic of that crazy TV show, but Chuckie Baby CAN carry a tune and puts new life into some old chestnuts! (Milton DeLugg's "Band with a Thug" gives great backing!) If you buy THIS one, you WON'T get gonged!! It's a real FUN CD!!"
Terrific!

"I loved it! I expected goofy stuff and was pleasantly surprised. Buy it!"
Fun If You Stay Away From Dylan

"I always loved 'The Gong Show' and Chuck Barris, but this CD is a mixed blessing. Some of the material is amusing and all of it is infectiously fun. It is interesting to hear him sing 'Palisades Park', the hit song he wrote that started him on the road to fame. Less stellar, is his 'Old Mother Trucker', which is just plain bad, 'Don't Think Twice', a Bob Dylan song that doesn't sound even remotely correct with Chuck's nasal Philadelphia voice and an upbeat tempo, and there is nothing on the planet that anyone, even Chuck, can do to make 'Mr. Sandman' a tolerable piece of music (although it's no less grating than when anyone else performs it.)It is great to know that Chuck is still out there and having fun, and the reunion with Milton DeLugg ("and the Band With a Thug") was wonderful. Now if he would only bring back 'The Gong Show!'"
