It's crickets -real crickets- and nothing but crickets. I was a little hesitant about this disc because I couldn't hear a sample of it, but it was definitely worth taking the chance. Despite the title Cape Cod Soundscapes, it could be anywhere -personally I'm reminded of summer at my parents' house in the California foothills and that's where it takes me even though I'm square in the middle of the city. There is another CD from Rykodisc called "midnight rainshower" (or something like that) They recorded the sound of gentle rain with crickets in the background. Very good sleep inducer, too. Also recommended!"
