Driving, Powerful Trance

(4 out of 5 stars)

"As soon as this CD kicks off, you can tell that it is Lawrence up to his usual tricks. Out of all the DJ's I listen to, Christopher Lawrence spins the hardest mixes of trance, and Temptation is no exception. This is the perfect mix to simulate one of his live mixes, or any ambiance that the middle of the night should sound at a rave. I have all of CL's releases except "Rise", and I must say that this is his best work to date. The first five tracks are brilliant, and instead of using these tracks as a slow buildup to pacier, harder tracks like his European contemporaries do, CL uses the entire CD as a hard trancefest that only Carl Cox can match in energy. Also good about this CD is that if you don't have any of Lawrence's releases, this is the one to start with. His other stuff is often jumbled and hard to follow for the virgin trance listener. The only reason for 4 stars is that this CD lacks the breakdowns and progression that make the climaxes so much better. Nevertheless, this constant energy will make you want to get up and dance or at least toe tap. Two thumbs up for America's Best trance DJ!"
If you like this, try his new CD 'United States of Trance'!

"I noticed that 'Temptation' is incorrectly being listed as a new mix from Christopher Lawrence. I bought 'Temptation' in 1999 when it was first released and while it has not lost any of its appeal, drive or power - I would advise anyone who has not heard Christopher Lawrence before to pick up his brand new CD 'United States of Trance' on Moonshine first. Both CDs are incredible, but I actually think 'United States of Trance' is better. Buckle in and enjoy the ride. Travis Todd"

"Christopher Lawrence is being labled the best american trance dj. Having lived in southern california my whole life and following Lawrence's journey since he moved here six years ago, I have already been well aware of this fact for some time. I used to buy his mixtapes from underground record stores. I'd play them for friends who didn't even know what trance was at the time. But they still wanted copies. At raves, I was blown away by his live sets. His brand of hard progressive music was what I knew to be trance music. I didn't hear it any other way until the nation was invaded by comercial trance compilations. After I first heard his set, and how he moved ten thousand feet on the dance floor, I knew I had to get into this whole dj'ing deal. And I wanted to play his style of music. Temptation, his second cd, is a real testament to the integrity of his sound, and a good indication of the positive directions he will take trance music. Anyone who is thinking about picking up one of his compilations, make it this one. If you like it, I highyl recommend his newest, "United States of Trance", due out jan.23. I've heard and used about half the records on the tracklist. And all of you that already listen to this guy, believe me when I tell you, it will not dissapoint. It will be just as good if not better than "Temptaion"."
