Our Secret Is Good begins inside the groove of "The Magic Holds," hits full throttle with "Man Of No Promises," and quiets down with the title track, Roberts's statement on the worthy work of keeping up inconvenient, irreplaceable, lifelong friendships. Roberts goes on to explore the deep end of her register on "Where The Garden Grows From" and "Mortal Appeal," and later takes on the piano for "Pink With Pearls." All the while, Roberts directs her music with the conviction of Five For Fighting's John Ondrasik and the tenderness of David Mead.
