Synopsis

Amazon.com
Known and loved by fans of instrumental New Age for more than 10 years, Chris Spheeris enters 2000 by adding the sensually uplifting Dancing with the Muse to his already large body of work. Influenced by everything from the Southwestern landscape to Middle Eastern exoticism to ancient world mysticism, Dancing stretches into eight lengthy pieces grounded by piano, synthesizer, and subdued vocals. Gradually building in size and intensity to the nearly 14-minute "Invisible Hands," Dancing functions as a cycle, and as a soundscape for the internal life of seekers. For his part, Spheeris is not only expressing his spiritual and artistic evolution, but playing right into the hands and hearts of his most fervent listeners. --Paige La Grone

CD Reviews

By far my favorite "new age" CD
T.G. | Newcastle, WA USA | 03/08/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I am in love with this CD. The recording quality is superlative, the musicality and creativity are top notch... can't express how much I love this one. Even those who aren't into "new age" could find things to appreciate about this CD.

The second song, "Dancing with the Muse" is my favorite. Incredible stuff.

Don't walk to buy it, run."
Superb Compositions
Mr. S. Bakrania | London | 10/28/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Although the album is seven years old the various compositions seem timeless. The range of instruments used evoke sounds from the many lands and cannot fail to entertain. I first heard Magaya being played in a Piazza in Lugao on a warm Summer's evening and it took me by storm. Thoroughly recommended."
Mediterranean Cruise

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have all of Chris's CDs and huge fan of his style, music, words and beauty. I would rate this CD, his best effort. This is not to say all of his other CDs are lesser. I'm only implying, I tend to reach for this CD more when there are house guests, for road trips and skiing. His ability to inspire and imagine with this CD, is at new heights in his career. Imagine traveling from port to port in the Mediterranean Sea, from Barcelon to Nice to Naples to Athens to Beirut to Alexandria and back to Tangier with many island stops in between. What a journey, Chris has created in "Dancing with the Muse"."
