Synopsis

On One Man Road, the Western swing and cowboy music that once made Chris LeDoux a dusty rodeo-culture star has been traded in for the clean guitar solos, thundering drums, and (melo)dramatic arrangements of the most tired arena rock. "Old Paint," though a ballad about a trusted horse, sounds like Bruce Hornsby. "The Fever" rocks like late-period Bob Seger, and "Bang a Drum" is a duet with Jon Bon Jovi himself. In fact, there's hardly a performance here that would identify itself as country if you didn't already know the singer was a former bronco buster. And when these generic settings are combined with LeDoux's new macho sentimentality, you can't help but long for that old LeDoux, the one who still had some dust on his boots. --David Cantwell

CD Reviews

The first Chis CD with a rock star

"I think the best song on this CD is "The Borderline". It is about a cowboy and a sheriff after a group of men. The second best is easily "Bang a Drum". This is the song with John Bon Jovy in it. I never thought I would ever hear these two sing together. If you have heard The Fever by Garth Brooks, Chris also sings it. I think it was origionaly Chris' song though."
Chris LeDoux is awesome!

"Chris LeDoux is the finest country/western singer of all time. From his heart-felt ballards to his rock and roll. Nobody can match his energy!"
Chris needs to put more out like this!

"I bought this because I knew Life is a Highway and Bang a Drum. These two are very good, but there are so many others that outweigh them. I really liked the title track, One Tonight, Runaway Love, Old Paint, and Johnny Horton's Ole Slew Foot. I was disappointed with Chris's version of The Fever since it sounds like Garth Brooks' 95 version and brought nothin' new to the song. However, thats the only problem I had with it; this CD has stayed in my changer for a while."
