CD Reviews

New singer/songwriter shines brightly
William | Cambridge, MD United States | 11/15/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This debut album is a stunning collection of soulfull and introspective lyrical music, showcasing the considerable vocal and composing talents of Chris Emerson. Much of the music seems to suggest it is autobiographical, although the artist explains that he tends to focus on situations, not events, for his inspiration. Track 3, 'All Because of You' was first introduced on the Warner Bros. TV hit, "Dawson's Creek", and it has quickly climbed into the AC Top 25 Nationwide,... but the little independent label, Monomoy, must compete with the majors for shelf space in retail, and so you may not have seen this CD yet."Broken Heart" and "This Could Take All Night" also seem destined to emerge as singles. This crisp release features a range of tempos and flavors, so the listener does not get lulled to sleep, or overpowered.... The common denominator throughout, however, is poetic lyrics that speak to the heart. His vocal command of both range and pitch is perfectly suited to the music. The listener is, at once, captivated by both the music, and the lyrics. This is an easy listen, destined to make you want much more."
Move Over boys there's a new MAN in town!!
morninggirl | Alabama | 03/19/2003
(4 out of 5 stars)

"In a music industry that is overrun with boy bands, Chris Emerson brings to the table a fresh sound that we adults can listen to. As I listened to the album for the first time, it was like being in a new relationship. I was excited, but apprehensive. Noticeable were the Motown and Classic Rock influences and even a touch of Techno. From the soft and gentle ("All Because of You"), to the ... sultry ("This Could Take All Night"), to the [great] Rock-N-Roll ("Fly Away"), there's a little something for everyone on this album. As I listened to the album for the 100th time I realized that I'm in this relationship to stay! If you're ready for something new and exciting and fresh, then "Tourist" is for you. BUY THIS ALBUM NOW!!"
